Introducing the joint press conference between RCS Sport and Team Milram in which Giro d’Italia ( Amsterdam, May 8th - Verona, May 30th) was presented in Deutschland Leonardo Campanelli, the Director of Enit in Munich, said that “Monaco is the most northerly city of Italy. We are proud to host this important sport event”.
Team Milram officializes 9 riders who will take part in “Corsa Rosa”
Matteo Pastore (Director Communication and Right Media RCS Sport) has declared: “This is the first stage of Giro d’Italia presentation that in the future will be hosted in strategic countries in which cycling has a strong tradition or in which we can have business opportunity, as a strong tv coverage. Next presentation will take parts in England and China. We are proud that the show of Giro d’Italia is recognized both important sport event for riders and unique board of promotion for sponsors and media.”
“I am celebrating my premiere in the Giro d'Italia this year“ explained Team Milram captain Linus Gerdemann at the press conference. “I am very much looking forward to it. The Giro is a race with the highest priority for me. I always like to ride in Italian races and feel very comfortable there. The Italian culture and lifestyle please me, too. So far I have had a difficult preparation for the Giro. Since Milan-San Remo I have had health problems and had to take an unplanned race break. So at this point it is hard to say what goals might be realistic, since it is not now possible to foretell my form at the start of the Giro. In any case, my goal is to do something there, and I am glad to accept the challenge of the Giro d'Italia.“
“As Team Milram we have become a German team, but we still have Italian roots“ said Gerry van Gerwen, general manager of Team Milram. “In light of out Italian personnel and our Italian directeur sportif Vittorio Algeri, you can even say that the Italian heart still beats in our team. The Giro d'Italia has always been and still is one of our major season highlights. The line-up which we will have at the start in Amsterdam underlines the value of the Giro to our team. Linus Gerdemann leads us as captain in Italy, even if his recent illnesses prevent us from predicting his form. Our goal is to surprise at the race and to help shape the Giro. We are to be reckoned with.“
